Terms

Most of a terms document is boilerplate. These are the clauses that would actually change a decision you make, so they are stated here in the same words we would use in the app.

What CarrySafe is, and is not

  • CarrySafe organizes official sources into a map. It is not legal advice, it is not a lawyer, it is not the issuing authority, and it is not a defence.
  • It does not tell you that carrying somewhere is lawful. It shows what a reviewer read in an official source, with the source attached.
  • Where our review has not reached, the app says Not reviewed. That means unknown. It never means permission, it never means no rule exists, and no plan converts it into a yes.
  • Reviewed answers carry a source and a review date. A row in the database that has not been published as an answer is not a reviewed answer, and the app does not present it as one.

Alerts are best effort

  • Foreground nearby and state-boundary warnings require CarrySafe to be open, Carry Mode to be on, location permission to be granted, and the device and network to complete the lookup.
  • The separate iOS background nearby opt-in is limited region monitoring. iOS decides delivery. Nothing is promised while the phone is locked, the app is backgrounded, force-quit, or ended by the system.
  • A warning that did not arrive is not a finding about a place.

Boundaries are approximate

Mapped boundaries and any warning radius drawn around a record are operational geometry for finding things. They are not legal boundaries, they are not survey-grade, and standing outside one is not a determination about anything.

The permit card

It is a personal reference copy of details you typed in. It carries a permanent NOT VALID FOR CARRY watermark on both faces, is not an official credential, is not Apple Wallet, and no authority is obliged to accept it. Carry your physical permit.

Plans and billing

  • A plan is map and product access. It never changes the review status of any legal material.
  • Subscriptions are auto-renewing and billed by Apple through your App Store account, and renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Manage, upgrade, downgrade or cancel with Apple. Refunds are Apple's process, not ours.
  • The localized price shown on Apple's purchase sheet is authoritative. No figure elsewhere — including on this website — is a price quote.
  • Duo is one owner and one invited adult on two separate accounts. It is app-managed and is not Apple Family Sharing.
  • Deleting your CarrySafe account does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Community content

  • Posts and events can be reported; authors can be blocked. Reports go to a staffed queue and content can be removed.
  • A verified badge is awarded by a human reviewer and cannot be self-awarded.
  • Official federal license records may support contextual FFL markers on the map. The app has no customer FFL directory or dealer list; an unclaimed marker is a public-record fact, not an endorsement.
